APM Terminals Mumbai (India) Launches a Railway Service

APM Terminals Mumbai has introduced a rail service specifically for repositioning of empty containers. This is a direct solution to the growing congestion on roads due to increased market demands. This initiative allows shipping lines and individual customers to reposition their empty inventory by rail from the container terminal to inland depots or vice versa, or even between individual depots via the terminal in a safer, faster, cost-competitive, and environmentally friendly way. Another benefit is that it allows for more transparency of the locations of the containers, better planning of the supply chain, and for quicker turn time for the empty equipment.
