“Green Corridors” Series: Interview with the Port of Vancouver

Ports play a central role in Green Corridors as main proponents, working together with peers and other maritime and energy stakeholders. In order to understand the impact of these initiatives in port cities and explain their strategies and goals, the AIVP is teaming up with the research group Port City Futures to develop a series of interviews with its members active in different green corridors. The Port of Vancouver is a key participant in the only Green Corridor focused on cruises. In this interview, the port explains its opinion on some key subjects.

AIVP’s Treasurer highlights the importance of the Port-City relation

MedCities hosted the event “Coastal Cities along the Mediterranean: governance strategies for port & city interactions” in Tangiers (Morocco), aimed at discussing effective and transferable port-city governance models that support the commitment to tackle major sustainability challenges. Mr. Mohamed Ouanaya, treasurer of the AIVP and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SAPT and SGPTV SA of Tangiers, represented and spoke on behalf of the AIVP during this event.

The AIVP represented at the Port City Atlas launch

On the 5th of November, the AIVP assisted to the official launch of the Port City Atlas: Mapping European Port City Territories in Rotterdam, organized by TU Delft and Port City Futures. The AIVP has assisted in the book-writing process over the past 1.5 years and put the Port City Atlas team in contact with circa 30 ports. The event encompassed several speeches and panels that discussed subjects linked to the importance of mapping as an analytical and tool and how to implement it in the case of South Holland. Caya Hein, Project leader – Green Transition & Agenda 2030 by AIVP, represented the AIVP and spoke at the official opening. The event was moderated by Prof. Carola Hein, Professor and Head of the Chair “History of Architecture and Urban Planning”.

Dublin Port Company renews its support to the Agenda 2030 by AIVP

Last Friday 6th of October was a special day for the port-city relationship in the Irish capital with two moments connected to the AIVP and the Dublin Port Company (DPC). In the morning, Mr. Barry O’Connell, CEO, signed the AIVP Agenda 2030, strengthening the commitment of DPC to develop sustainable port-city relationships and contributing to sustainable development as a global aim.
